Intro/transitions/CODA
What's the purpose of an introduction? Tell the audience what this piece is going to be about. Hook them in! An intro can be slow or fast, regardless, it needs to be engaging. Sometimes uses themes from the overall piece.
What's a transition? Think of a transition as a short musical bridge that connects two different musical worlds. Transitions are usually gradual in dynamic and tempo. Transitions often use material from both the place of origin and the destination.
What's a coda? The coda is the conclusion of a musical piece. It signifies to the audience that the piece is over and the applause can ensue. Coda's can be slow or fast, regardless, there's a sense of conclusion. The end of a piece usually ends on the tonic (home) and on beat one. Sometimes uses the theme from the overall piece. The ultimate resolution.
